As someone who grew up in the 1980s, I was born into the era where we’ve always gone to space. In kindergarten I was introduced to the idea of flight and my interest in the sky was sparked. In second grade, I remember learning that we had gone to the moon and back but didn’t quite have a full understanding of how much of an accomplishment this was. I thought it would be really cool to go into space someday.
A year later, I watched the Challenger’s last flight on a small computer monitor in my third grade classroom. I had just finished my long division test and had begged my teacher to let me watch it. She was kind enough and had the smarts to know how to use our little computer monitor as a TV. I watched, along with one other classmate who was also really interested in space, aviation, and science.

After the recent Equifax data breach, more and more people are more aware than ever of the impact identity theft can have on your life. After news broke of the data breach, I was absolutely irate. I spent a few hours researching what I could find on the internet about what actually happened and it made me even more irate.
The next day, I was at Trader Joe’s doing my weekend grocery shopping and I saw a few cute little elderly ladies there doing the same. I became irate all over again knowing that there’s so many people, like somebody’s Grandma that I saw picking out apples who probably have no idea how to even take care of their credit after this massive breach.
Equifax’s initial response to the breach was to offer you a website where you can look up your information to see if you were affected by the breach. Well, I typed in ‘TEST’ for the last name and ‘123456’ and was told I was affected. HA. OK. I tweeted the screenshots too because seriously. What a joke.
You can get a free copy of your credit report each year for free. But did you know you can also get your FICO credit score for free too, without paying a dime?
After doing a bit of research on the steps you should take as a result of the recent Equifax breach, I decided that I needed to share more about how to get your credit score for free and without getting ripped off. I knew you could get a free copy of your credit report each year, but did you know that you have to pay money to find out what your actual credit score is? I thought this couldn’t be real. It’s my information. Why do I have to pay to see it? In fact, I found one website that wanted nearly $60 to get my credit score. Ahhh. No!

YouTube is a resource that I refer a lot of people to when they’re interested in learning a new topic. Over 300 hours of video are uploaded to YouTube every single minute, which means 2 things:
- Some of it is junk.
- When learning something new, it’s hard to separate the junk from the good stuff.
I spend quite a bit of time surfing YouTube and subscribe to some pretty good players. I am constantly learning and am constantly asked what I do to keep up with technology.
Here’s my list of current favorite YouTube channels. I am writing this post in the summer of 2017, so this list will change and evolve as time passes. Probably makes sense for me to make a version 2.0 of this list in summer 2018!
